Cách làm dạng bài True/False/Not Given (Đúng/Sai/Không có trong bài

Chào các bạn, hôm nay Thầy Anh sẽ hướng dẫn các bạn mẹo xử lý dạng bài True/False/Not Given (Đúng/Sai/Không có trong bài) – một trong những “hố đen” khiến nhiều bạn mất thời gian nhất trong IELTS Reading.

Tip: “Keywords & Degree of Certainty” (Từ khóa và Mức độ khẳng định)

Sai lầm phổ biến nhất là chúng ta thường dùng “suy luận cá nhân” thay vì dựa hoàn toàn vào dữ liệu văn bản. Để làm tốt, hãy chú ý đến các Modifying Words (từ hạn định) như all, some, always, often, occasionally.

• True: Thông tin trong câu hỏi khớp hoàn toàn với ý nghĩa của bài đọc (thường dùng từ đồng nghĩa – paraphrasing).

• False: Thông tin trong bài đọc trực tiếp mâu thuẫn với câu hỏi.

• Not Given: Thông tin không được nhắc tới, hoặc bài đọc có nhắc đến đối tượng đó nhưng không có dữ liệu để xác nhận sự so sánh/mối quan hệ mà câu hỏi đưa ra.

Ví dụ minh họa:

Văn bản: “Most students at the university prefer digital textbooks over printed ones due to their portability.”

• Câu hỏi 1: All students at the university like digital textbooks. (False – Vì bài nói là Most, không phải All).

• Câu hỏi 2: Digital textbooks are more expensive than printed ones. (Not Given – Bài chỉ nói về sự tiện lợi/portability, không hề nhắc đến giá cả).

Giải thích: Đừng thấy câu hỏi có vẻ “hợp lý” ngoài đời thực (như sách điện tử thường rẻ hơn) mà chọn True. Nếu bài không viết, đáp án chắc chắn là Not Given.

Today I would like to tell you about a child who is my cousin. His name is Lam, but I always call him by his nickname Monkey. Everyone calls him Monkey because he is very active and agile. I used to see him very often, but recently I have been busy with studying, so I have not met him for weeks. Monkey is 8 years old now. He is really adorable with big eyes and rosy cheeks and I really like his smile because it makes him look like an angel. He used to be very naughty when he was three or four years old. He cried for hours until he got what he wanted, but now he is more obedient. I guess maybe he thinks that he is not a child anyway, so he needs to behave well. He is quite an independent child. He doesn’t need his parents to tell him what time to do homework or what time to go to bed, he does all that on his own . I love this child very much because he is always so happy and optimistic. He gives me a positive energy when I’m with him. Whenever I drop by, he would give me a big hug and tell me his story at school. I really treasure those happy moments with my cousin. So, if I had to talk about a child I know, it would be my cousin.
